Waitrose and booths win at Re:fresh

Commitment to British sourced produce was a key factor in both Waitrose and Booths taking home major titles at last month’s Re:fresh awards

L to r: Mary Vizoso of Waitrose and director of Food and Wines From Spain, Maria José Sevilla

Waitrose was crowned Multiple Retailer of the Year while Booths was named Independent Retailer of the Year for the second year running. Re:fresh recognised Waitrose for its commitment to sourcing British products and launching branded regional produce in four areas across the UK. The supermarket was also praised for demonstrating environmental responsibility, ethical sourcing and delivering a fair return to growers. Booths was also praised for its commitment to sourcing British goods – 87% of its produce was British sourced in 2005.
