Ginsters is on a roll

Sandwich awards success for savoury pastries and sandwiches brand

L to r: TV presenter Richard Johnson; Andy Valentine and Jane Play, European marketing manager from award sponsor, Moy Park

Ginsters has been named Sandwich Marketeer of the Year 2006 at the British Sandwich Association awards.

Ginsters is the UK's leading sandwich brand with a 70% share of branded sandwiches in the impulse purchasing channel.

It is the third accolade for the company in as many months. In May Ginsters won the Convenience Supplier of the Year award in Checkout 's Convenience Retailing Awards.

In the same month it was named Top Food Supplier in the Convenience Tracking Programme Awards, organised by him!

The latest awards ceremony was attended by the sandwich industry's major players with Ginsters head of marketing Andy Valentine on hand to accept the Sandwich Marketeer Award.

A successful relaunch of Ginsters' sandwich ranges last September was an important factor in the judges' decision to recognise the brand. The relaunch included new packaging, featuring a Cornish landscape design and colour coding, according to flavours, to help customers differentiate between the Deep Fill, Variety packs and Simply ranges. Ginsters also made an impression with its new product development and the complementary marketing campaign.

Valentine said: “Everyone at Ginsters was thrilled to win such a prestigious award which recognises the hard work and dedication we have invested in building our sandwich brand. The sandwich market is set to grow 29.6% in the next six years with a significant opportunity for the development of premium ranges. Our marketing effort has capitalised on this positive outlook and promoted the convenience of Ginsters sandwiches, a continuous programme of new products to keep the range refreshed, market-leading product availability and our distinctive full-flavoured sandwiches. We are constantly monitoring market trends and consumer feedback to ensure we give retailers and consumers the products they want.”
