Convenience event getting bigger and better
Top quality speakers will be at this year's Future of International Convenience Retailing event, which also includes a tour of the Perfect Store.
The complete schedule of speakers has now been published for this year's Future of International Convenience Retailing event, organised by Insight Research and supported by Checkout magazine. In addition, the study tour, which precedes the main conference, is now offering the option of visiting United Cooperative's Perfect Store in Bradwell.
During the main conference, being held at the British Library on 20 September 2006, speakers will include Jonathan Lawson, director of operations, Sainsbury's Convenience; Ian Pye, president of central Food Retail Company, Tops Thailand; and Susan Beetlestone, general manager, marketing, United Co-op and Suzy Ford, convenience channel manager, Unilever.
Lawson will focus on Sainsbury's Convenience strategy in the cities, which aims to deliver an offer for both transient commuters and metro residents. He will bring this alive with the work on proposition, macro space and micro range including the initial results from work carried out on Sainsbury's Centrals.
Ian Pye, president of Thailand's leading supermarket, and a British retailing veteran with some 40 years experience, will describe how Tops is being repositioned. He will explain how the Central Food Retail Company has achieved a rapid turnaround, making it one of the fastest growing supermarkets in the world in 2005.
Beetlestone and Ford will talk about the Perfect Store. The ground-breaking collaboration between Unilever and Unitied Co-op, which is now being rolled out to eight additional sites. Delegates will even be able to get hands-on experience of the virtual reality software used to design the sites.
Delegates interested in seeing the Perfect Store have now the option of visiting it on 19 September. (This tour option is not available through web/flyer ordering so please contact: for further details.
