Newitt & Sons named UKs Best Family Business
Family butcher recognised by Couts for its out-standing growth over the past three years
Thame-based butchers, M Newitt & Sons, was last week awarded the prize for Best UK Family Business, £1-5m turnover at the national finals of the Coutts Prize for Family Business. It beat off stiff competition from Pollards Tea and Coffee, Italian food importers, Machiavelli, and property developers, Darian Homes.
Judges were impressed by Newitt's recent rapid expansion which has seen it treble its turnover in three years. Today, Newitts sales are in the £3 million mark. This has been achieved through the opening of branded Newitt counters in 36 branches of Budgens.
The Coutts Prize recognises firms in three categories (£1m-5m, £5m-£50m, £50m+) that demonstrate a combination of best practice in family and corporate governance, business succession, business strategy, innovation and charitable giving.
Coutts is the international private banking arm of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group.
