Lidl to sell cheap flights to shoppers

Shoppers at discount supermarket Lidl will have the chance to buy cheap flights to Europe along with their groceries

The German discounter has partnered with budget airline Air Berlin and will be selling flight vouchers at its checkouts for one week, starting on 5 September.

Shoppers can purchase a £19 Lidl flight voucher, which has a value of up to £69 all-inclusive. Flights must be booked online within a month and used within six months. Destinations include Berlin, Vienna, Rome and Glasgow.

Tony Parker, a company director at Lidl, said: “This is a first for retailing in the UK and we are absolutely delighted to be expanding our existing range of weekly offers and extending it into a new sector.

“Not only are we making air travel more accessible, we are making it even cheaper by selling a flight voucher for £19 for a flight valued at £69, which further supports our ‘where quality is cheaper’ message.”

Lidl shoppers can buy as many vouchers as they like while the promotion runs.
