Waitrose to open in Ampthill

Supermarket to open first store in Bedfordshire for over 30 years

Waitrose is opening a new store in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, on 29 September. It will be the first store Waitrose has opened in the county for 30 years and will create 150 jobs.

The store staff will include specialists, which Waitrose has recruited to train in areas such as fish, cheese and wine.

Store manager Neil Wilmore said: "Creating so many jobs shows our commitment to Ampthill and how high our expectations are of success here. We've always had many requests to come to the area, and now the right opportunity has come along we cannot wait to arrive."

Ampthill is the first purpose-built store Waitrose will open this year and takes its store portfolio to 181 branches.
