Morrisons own label wins curry award
Bombay potatoes take centre stage
|
| Award winning side dish |
Morrisons has triumphed at the recent British Curry Awards after winning the side dish category for its Bombay Potatoes.
The spicy potatoes, which are in a tomato and onion sauce, were described as the perfect accompaniment.
This is the first year that The British Curry Awards, organised by trade magazine,
Spice Business[i/], have opened the awards to retailers.
Previously, the awards have only been open to restaurants. Nominations were invited from customers and from these an initial shortlist was selected. The leading products were evaluated by an independent panel based on flavour, texture, amount, appearance and value. The winners were announced at an official ceremony on 17 September at the Grovesnor House Hotel in London.
Giles Leverton, fresh foods buyer for Morrisons said: We strive to offer our customers a high quality range of ready meals, covering a wide selection of international cuisines. Our Indian chefs work continuously on creating dishes using authentic ingredients and cooking methods, with the aim of providing a restaurant-quality eating experience from the comfort of your home. It is fantastic that a product from our range of own label Indian ready meals has been recognised as the best in the country.
