In a bid to increase its retail distribution, the US coffee giant is targeting grocery stores in the UK and Canada
Starbucks, the world's largest speciality coffee chain has announced plans to start selling packaged coffee in UK supermarkets early next year, as part of a strategy to increase retail distribution of its branded products.
The announcement came during its sixth biennial analyst conference, held at the company's headquarters in Seattle, Washington.
The company also revealed it has changed its long-term target global store count from 30,000 to 40,000. This will be achieved in particular through the opening of stores in new International markets including Brazil, Russia, India and Egypt, and expanded product innovation across all business.
Starbucks is to introduce a cashless payment system into its UK stores next month. Customers will be able to load a Starbucks card up with any amount from £2 to £150 by registering at www.starbucks.co.uk.
