Sainsbury’s to launch premium Austrian white wine

Grüner Veltliner is the latest addition to the Taste the Difference range

Sainsbury’s is launching a premium Austrian wine into its range next month (September), sourcing the wine from small family producer Weingut Huber, located in the Traisental region west of Vienna.

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Austrian Grüner Veltliner will be available in 200 stores from early September, priced £6.99.

Markus Huber is described as one of Austria's “up and coming young winemakers”, who is the 10th generation of his family in the wine trade. He has been winemaking”, using grapes from the family vineyards and those of his neighbours, since 2000.

He has also had built a new winery in the last two years and specialises in the Grüner Veltliner grape variety. It is said to produce fruity white wines with floral aromas and green plum flavours with a hint of spice.
