Quaker gives away scoops

Oats brand helps make perfect porridge

Free scoop offer

Quaker is giving away free scoops in 1kg packs of Quaker Traditional Porridge Oats.

The scoops measure the exact amount of oats and milk needed to make a perfect bowl of porridge and will be inside all 1kg packs for six weeks from this month.

PepsiCo trade marketing manager Cara Beeby commented: “Our research has shown that people sometimes find it hard to make porridge that is the right consistency and texture. The scoop will enable them to make the perfect bowl of porridge every time.”

The scoop give-away will be followed up with an on-pack promotion where consumers can claim a free scoop by writing to a freepost address, calling a promotional telephone number or entering via the internet. 1.4m limited edition packs will display the on-pack promotion and it will run for eight weeks from October. Quaker expects to give away over 50,000 scoops during this time.

Beeby adds: “This promotion is a great opportunity for retailers to kick start the Hots season when sales of Quaker Oats increase. As such we are urging retailers to stock the 1kg packs to ensure they meet consumer demand.”

The scoop promotion is part of Quaker's £3.4m media campaign for 2006.
