Kelloggs to remove trans fats from cereal bars
Cereals brand on course to cut hydrogenated vegetable oils from range by end of year
Kelloggs UK has confirmed that its hydrogenated vegetable oil removal programme, which will effectively remove trans fats, will be completed by the end of the year. In the UK, Kelloggs breakfast cereals do not contain any hydrogenated vegetable oil and can already be considered virtually trans free.
The companys Sam Fulton says: Only trace amounts of trans fats occur in a small number of Kelloggs snack products which are derived from those naturally inherent in some ingredients rather than through the addition of hydrogenated fats.
We have been actively working to remove hydrogenated vegetable oils, and therefore trans fats, from the small number of Kelloggs snack products which currently contain them and plan to achieve this by the end of 2006. Kelloggs is committed to providing products that meet changing consumer nutrition needs and we are pleased to have found alternatives to hydrogenated oils that can be used without compromising on taste, texture and quality.
